Sound Sunday features Heather Harper and bella figlia.

Heather Harper is a musician, singer, violinist, DJ, and sound artist.

Vocal melodies arc across the sky, looping and swirling through her vocal processing instrument, The Augmented Voice. An ocean of ambient textures, surging drones, distorted beats, and crushing noise churns below.

Heather has played at The Pitt, Sweet Escape, PS, and the Fire Lights festival, at venues like Collision, Club Pittsburgh, and the Government Center. She is a violinist in SHAME HOLE, a DJ/VJ in Reverse Cowgirl, and a frequent collaborator with Bella Figlia.

bella figlia, elizabeth joan harris, is a multidisciplinary, genre- fluid artist and sound designer.

As a music therapist, she understands the effects of sound on the brain; she tugs at the jagged edges of soft sounds to extract sharp feelings. Layering is a common theme throughout all of her disciplines, whether it be with sound, textile, or paper, collage is a conceptual through line, constantly flirting with the idea that fragments can be pieced together to make a new scape.

Using piano, guitar, found sound from her own field recordings, and her classically trained voice, elizabeth extracts the divinity from the mundane, fuses the grotesque to the holy, and finds the sensual in the spiritual.
