ABOUT ME

Elizabeth Joan Harris

MT-BC

Hello! I’m Elizabeth.

I am a lesbian, gender-fluid board certified music therapist, music instructor, trans voice alteration specialist, and creative coach.

I completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Music Therapy and Classical and Jazz Voice at Duquesne University, and practiced as clinical music therapist in Cleveland, Ohio for 3 years working in inpatient psychology at the Cleveland Clinic and in developmental disability classrooms in Euclid public schools.

In 2020, I  started FIG NEW TUNES LLC  for private music therapy, music instruction, and my own music performance ventures and experiments.

In 2022, I  trained with  Renee Yoxon to learn trans voice alteration, a perfect blend of my music therapy skills and vocal coaching knowledge, to help trans and non-binary clients achieve a comfortable and gender affirming vocal range.

I work at the intersection of nurturing individual self-expression and facilitating community healing practices through sound design, music creation, and deep listening; a true exploration of body and mind regulation alongside our neighbor.

Using musical experiences such as adapted guitar/piano/voice lessons, songwriting, lyric analysis, relaxation, playlist curation, and music making, I  can help you alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression, and help you address issues in self-awareness, identity exploration, attention disorders, and embodiment/expression.

Often those who might have had traumatic experiences with learning an instrument or using their voice, either in singing or public speaking, confide in my expertise as my music lessons are structured from a music therapy framework centering around process and curiosity, rather than product or “correctness.”
